What is Anatomy and Physiology?

Anatomy is the study of the human body and biology. This includes tissues, bone structure, health and ultimately the understanding of the human body. Anatomy focuses on the descriptions and appearances of the body, whereas physiology focuses on the function and workings of the human body.

For example, physiology would be the study of how the hand works. Physiology would be understanding why the hand is shaped this specific way, the role that each bone plays, the reason for the soft tissue and more.

It is important to understand anatomy and physiology in massage therapy because the goal of massage therapy should be to provide the client with a soothing and relaxing session. Focusing on key points on a persons back and arm will help one to relax quickly and destress to relaxing music.
