During pregnancy, a woman grows physically, faces hormonal changes, swelling, depression, stress, anxiety.
After a delivery, the woman needs time to recover.
Generally it takes 6 weeks for normal delivery and as long as 10 weeks or more for delivery with surgery. Recovery allows the body to return to normal. There has been hormonal imbalance and the uterus needs to return to pre-pregnancy size too. Many women will tell you they feel fatigue, some will have post delivery blue which may last between days to weeks. Generally, we take good care of the new mummy and give her adequate rest, nutritious food which can produce more milk, and massage.
Benefits of Post-natal Massage
- Post natal massage is essential to help her remove toxins
- remove water retention and help her heal faster
- relief fatigue and relax her body and mind
- slim down faster with special tummy flattening techniques
To enable the candidate to perform a postnatal massage safely, bind the client’s tummy effectively and help the client detox and encourage blood and lymph flow. This is a massage every new mum needs! PTA helps you understand the anatomy of delivery and what to avoid, how to perform a safe massage and help new mums reap all the benefits of a good Javanese postnatal massage. This is a pre-requisite before we recommend you the Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage.
After delivery, most women will experience some discomfort like abdominal weakness, backaches, breast soreness, heartburn or back problems. Massage is universally accept as the fastest way to promote healing of the body that has gone on so much. A new mother who could do post natal massage on her abdomen every few hours in a clockwise direction will help to increase bleeding as lochia is secreted with the uterine contractions. This is good and she should continue for a few weeks to see the colour of the discharge become lighter in colour. To speed up recovery, it is advisable to get a professional post natal massage for 5-7 days and regularly after the 1st month. Binding comes after the post natal massage. This binding will especially help the new mum to slim down faster and get back into shape in as fast as a week. Besides relieving tension and the stress in your body after carrying a baby for 9 months, you need the massage to energise again, to flatten your tummy fastest possible and get back in shape again. In Singapore, it is a popular practice for many mothers to receive a postnatal massage. Learn this skill and focus on mother massage!
